IMO this public park is probably the worst of the known public launches on Skaneateles Lake. Avoid, unless you are really experienced with your boat in very shallow water. Especially if your boat is bigger than 18 feet and/or draws more than 18 inches of water. The launch is located at the end of a poorly maintained shallow “canal”. There’s only enough space to launch one boat at a time. You will waste lots of time idling thru the weed choked canal, about a mile of idling, out to the lake, with the engine tilted up as far as possible while still keeping the water intake and propeller in the water to push you along. The weeds are so dense you should check the engine to make sure the water intakes are clear before taking off. There are far better places to launch on the lake if the state launch is closed. In fact I’d rather pay one of the two local marina’s launch fees than use this thing. It has porta johns for bathrooms. Stay away.
5 stars however will not use again solely because the water is to shallow. 21′ rinker open bow. Stayed in the center of the inlet w the motor up and still rubbed a few rocks . No damage luckily. Besides that the park is extremely clean, has portapottie . Come early parking seem to fill in quickly.
Park is ok for a family gathering. Boat launch dock is fine. Only one dock. Channel to the lake is the worst ever. 2.5 feet on average day. Extremely overgrown towards late summer. The town should pay someone to dredge the way if there going to charge a fee. If u have a sizable boat you will need to pole half mile to the lake. Ridiculous
The only public park on the southern end of the Skaneateles Lake. Porta potty on site. Trail to the lake is very messy. The bank of the inlet is very muddy and can sink your shoes!
Nice public park with open green fields, basketball courts, bathrooms, a pavilion, and a small boat launch. This is a nice place to check out the south end of Skaneateles lake on a summer day.
