was passing through hillsboro and wanted to stop for a moment and play with my daughter. the couple of play areas were terrible. i understand that the playground isn’t the true reason most people would come to this park, but still a large disappointment.

Came in three cars for the eclipse. Four of us came from Hawaii, and 5 came from California. Because attendance had been capped a few weeks before, fully expected to find a full parking lot and few open spaces. Not sure, but perhaps some who paid for a NULL reservation may have decided to go elsewhere at the last minute due to cloudy conditions the week prior. We parked in the second row of cars that were forming….and picked a spot between two of the baseball fields that had some trees and shade. There was so much available space, enough to set up large telescopes with no one close by if needed. A row of porta potties were also set up, though we were close to the concession which was open and also had M/F restrooms. Another row of cars were on one edge of the complex along the road, nearer to the porta potties, but maybe also wanting to avoid getting stuck in traffic after the eclipse was over.
There were clouds shadowing the sun before totality, but they seemed to part and clear just in time for an awesome show. We enjoyed the 4 minutes of totality, nearly twice as long as the Oregon eclipse we saw in 2017. Maybe the only bummer was the ground was uneven and patchy under the trees so we didn’t have any good crescent leaves pictures of the sun except on one white towel. The clouds did get in the way before the eclipse fully ended, so we left the park and drove to Hillsboro main for some food and eclipse shirts/souvenirs shopping. All in all a good day.

I came here for the eclipse (eclipseboro) and it was a wonderful choice of venue. Large grassy areas, a unique playground, baseball fields, and a surronding wall of trees makes it feel like the perfect park for any occasion.
