If you’re looking for a spacious and welcoming dog park in Hercules, CA, Ohlone Park is a neighborhood gem perfect for dog owners and their pets. This pet-friendly park features fully fenced enclosures with separate sections for both small and large dogs, letting your pup play and socialize safely off-leash. Visitors love the ample shade from eucalyptus trees on the large dog side, water fountains for both humans and dogs, and plenty of benches to relax and watch your canine companion play.
The park is wheelchair accessible and offers a convenient parking area, making visits easy for all. While the park is generally clean and maintained by dedicated volunteers and dog owners, it’s wise to bring your own waste bags since dispensers are often empty. Whether you’re searching for a dog-friendly park in Hercules with lots of room for dogs to roam, socialize, and enjoy the outdoors, Ohlone Park is a top choice for locals and visitors alike.
Been coming here for a while now. Mostly on days where is hot out. I love this park due to its big area of shade and obstacles for dogs. Both Small and Big areas are great size for any size dog. Both dog water fountains work great and there’s many benches to sit on. The parking is good too, however it could be bigger.
Went here from 4pm – 5pm on a Thursday afternoon in the middle of July and it is hot – in the 90 degrees! To be expected in Hercules. This is an okay dog park with lots of room for potential. All enclosed 4’ f nce with two separate area’s for small-medium and medium-big dogs. There are garbage cans, dog waste bag stations (but zero bags available on the big side, luckily I always have them handy), and water fountains for humans and dogs. Saw a few poopies that irresponsible annoying owners did not pick up after their dog. The smaller side is a lot more exposed with only a few sad trees not giving much shade. While the larger side has tons of huge eucalyptus trees. The larger side is covered with eucalyptus leaves and nuts – just fyi eucalyptus is a gastrointestinal irritant and a neurotoxin for dogs. So if your dog likes to munch on random things you’ll have to keep a really good watch over them or avoid this park all together. Wish there was more grass – and in shaded areas because my pup would have loved that. Also wish there were more dogs here!! Not a single soul in sight! The biggest reason I bring her to dog parks is for her to socialize. So this was a bummer in that aspect. No visible bathrooms.
Also dog park…wish more people would visit. Side for large dogs & small dogs. People are really nice, sometimes exchanging #s to set up play dates. You have to bring your own bags because dispensers r empty. Very pretty in winter & spring because of pretty green grass.
Hercules neighborhood Park is great for a quick 1/4 mile loop for my dogs. Has an area for big and little dogs under 30lbs.Everybody is nice , and volunteers and dog owners keep the place very clean. Very safe for the dogs!
Good dog park, but needs more city maintenance. There are dispensers, but NO bags, so you have to bring your own. There are some who don’t pick up after their dogs…this is my main pet peeve…also FYI Ohlone Elementary School moved their main entrance from Pheasant Dr to the same side as entrance to dog park on Turquoise…sometimes parents/students cross paths with those of us going into park.
