Depken Field Dog Park in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey

Located conveniently alongside Route 17 in Hasbrouck Heights, Depken Field is a well-maintained community athletic facility known for its modern turf, top-notch track, and improved lighting. While primarily a high school sports complex, it’s a unique spot for local residents seeking open, grassy areas and pet-friendly surroundings. The field and its surrounding spaces get high marks for being clean and well-managed, making it a pleasant stop for dog owners who enjoy strolling with their pets.

The park’s main appeal is its open, grassy artificial turf and easy visibility, making it a recognizable place for dog walking in Bergen County. However, parking can be challenging during busy events, and there are no noted dedicated off-leash or fenced dog runs. If you’re looking to exercise your pup or enjoy a leisurely walk in Hasbrouck Heights, Depken Field offers a convenient, pet-friendly option, especially outside of athletic events. Well kept turf and track, but not the best field for baseball. No baseball diamond and track goes between infield and outfield.

Visited for track and field invitational..

Grass turf over concrete was used for 1 throwing event and resulted in events being very jammed together. Nice field, but may not be suitabley big enough for this type of relay event. Discus and Shot pits have no toe guards.

Otherwise it’s clearly well managed.

Over the years, one of my favorite high school football fields to visit has been Depken Field in Hasbrouck Heights. It is one of the most visible fields in Bergen County, lying alongside Route 17 South at Franklin Avenue. The field has undergone some renovations over the years, with turf replacing the formerly bumpy and dug out grass. The lighting is much improved for night games, and the old two tier press box that was a nightmare for many to get upstairs in is gone. When I passed by there recently, I noticed that the stands (formerly simply concrete) were under reconstruction. I’ll have to return in the fall to update.

Just because parking was horrendous. Went for the first time for a track meet, huge event on a Friday night. There were no designated parking areas or anyone to provide guidance.

This is a great athletic facility that has a really nice track with a nice field turf football field. Forget the fact that this is just a Group 1 school. The facilities have helped the Football Team to 3 consecutive State Championships in 2016, 2017 and 2018. Which includes a bowl win 2018. In order to be successful, you need the right tools in the toolbox and the Aviators are flying.
