Nestled in the heart of Hartford, Connecticut, the Elizabeth Park Sunrise Overlook is renowned for its beautiful, tranquil atmosphere and lush greenery. While not a dedicated dog park, this scenic spot features ample open space for leashed walks with your furry friend, allowing both locals and visitors to enjoy the oldest municipal rose garden in the United States. The park’s extensive flower gardens, picnic tables, tennis courts, and walkable paved paths provide a picturesque escape for pet owners seeking dog-friendly strolling and relaxing spots in the city.
Though the overlook does not offer panoramic skyline views as some may expect, it’s favored for peaceful sunrises, quiet paths, and access to the charming Pond House Cafe. Whether you’re looking for pet-friendly trails in Hartford or a relaxing place to unwind with your dog, Elizabeth Park is a welcoming destination. Please note that dogs should remain leashed while visiting.

Beautiful park with the oldest Municipal Rose garden in the country as well as all sorts of other flowers. Picnic tables, tennis courts, pathways for walking,Pond House Cafe next to the small pond.
This place leaves a lot to be desired. It’s got good space and a lot of greenery but it’s not an overlook the way you expect it to be. You barely see the Hartford skyline. I know it’s not meant for it but you can skip it if you don’t have time.
