If you’ve spent time at an off-leash park, you’ve probably seen it:A parent strolls in with a stroller 🚼 or […]
Located in the heart of Hartford, Colt Park is a large, versatile green space known for its pet-friendly atmosphere and wide open fields, perfect for on-leash dog walks and fun outdoor activities. This historic city park features sports fields, a playground, scenic views, and picnic areas, making it an ideal spot for families and their furry friends looking to explore dog parks in Hartford, Connecticut. The park offers wheelchair-accessible entrances and parking, so everyone in your family can enjoy the space comfortably.
While there isn’t a designated fenced dog area, the park’s vast grassy fields provide plenty of room for leashed pets to roam, play, and socialize, as well as relax in shaded spots beneath mature trees. Amenities for owners include public restrooms, benches, picnic tables, and a playground for children nearby. Colt Park is a popular choice for locals seeking a pet-friendly environment in Hartford, and its central location means you’re close to downtown and other city amenities.
Is a nice place if you like crowded people and loud music and cars and motorcycle.
Nice statues but there was drug paraphernalia EVERYWHERE had to immediately leave the premises
Great little park. Well big park actually. It was moderately well kept, not much trash, grass was cut. Had a central park feel because you know you are in the city but it’s about a mile primer y of grass.
It’s largely deducted to sports ( baseball, football, soccer, basketball) but there are wide open feels for young children, dogs, kites and the like. You can see the downtown skyline and walk to the river front. The playground is really nice with it’s rope course. The pool was great. It had surprising hours. 12-4 for kids only, no adults allowed on the pool deck. 5-6 for adults no kids allowed on the pool deck. 12-5 on weekends and everyone is allowed. Opens at the end of June which also feels late. There are two pools. One goes from 2ft to 4ft for kids. The other is a full lap pool for adults.
I look forward to exploring it more. The consideration is that it attracts the homeless and the bored. Which is great for them, however some families may prefer Elizabeth Park or the boat house park.
Excited to see this wonderful place and take in the history. The gated mansion was beautiful however the “city park” on adjoining property was a disgusting mess. Trash everywhere, full of homeless. CLEAN IT UP FOR GOD’S SAKE..!
Been coming here for years. Very big park. Lots of baseball and softball fields to play in and big enough to let your dog have some fun.
