Kiwanis Park is a well-maintained and quiet community space nestled in the heart of Harrisonburg, Virginia. This wheelchair-accessible park offers a variety of amenities for families and pet owners alike, boasting basketball courts, a fun playground for kids, and scenic benches for taking in the fresh Shenandoah Valley air. The park is an ideal place to enjoy dog-friendly walking trails, making it a popular spot for local dog walkers and owners looking for pet-friendly outings.
For those seeking a dog park in Harrisonburg, Kiwanis Park is especially known for its inviting walking paths and shaded areas, creating a great environment for leashed dog hikes. The park is clean and orderly, with ample shade and well-kept grounds. Please note that while dogs are welcome, they must be kept on a leash and there is no separate fenced off-leash area. Families will also appreciate the playground and the easy access for strollers or wheelchairs. However, there are no public restrooms, and trash bins are limited to the basketball court area, so plan accordingly.
Nice quiet park. Shaded and fun playground (so I was told) 🙂 Watched a squirrel on the playground as we approached this morning. Delightful!
I’m too old to go there for the playground but the track is about 1/4 mile long and isn’t just a boring oblong.
I wish there was a trash can near the track though to encourage folks to throw their trash away. Every time I’ve gone there (about twice per week) I’ve made a habit of picking litter along the track during my cool-down lap and carrying it over to the basketball court where the only trashcan is found. Each time I gather a good heaping hamdfull or two. It seems the landscaping staff just mow over it.
Nice little Park the only thing I thought was lacking is picnic tables but otherwise very well maintained, clean, and orderly
Great park to walk your dog, play basketball or just sit on their benches and take in fresh air. This Park has been here for over 60 yrs.
