Friends of Midtown Dog Park in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, offers a dedicated off-leash space in the heart of the city for dog owners seeking a place for their pups to play and socialize. This dog park in Harrisburg features separate areas for small and large dogs with transition gates, giving owners peace of mind regarding their dog’s safety and interaction with others. The park is known for its spacious layout, natural shade from trees, and available seating for dog owners to relax while keeping an eye on their companions.
There are large water bowls for thirsty dogs and a collection of toys left by visitors, making it a fun park for dogs that love to play. Although the park is appreciated for being accessible and open, some reviewers have noted issues with park maintenance—such as muddy conditions after rain, occasional uncollected waste, and a fence that may not be secure for high-jumping dogs. Parking can also get tight on busy days. Nevertheless, Friends of Midtown Dog Park remains a valuable option for pet owners in Harrisburg and those passing through looking for a welcoming, dog-friendly space.
It’s good to have a space here to play, but it’s in pretty bad shape. The gate for big dogs doesn’t properly close, which is a little scary. There’s broken glass by the benches, sdsu I’d be afraid to let my dog play in the grass. More importantly, the neighborhood doesn’t seem friendly. We took our dog to play, and a woman demanded we go on the other side of the fence because “her dogs don’t like my kind of dog” (didn’t correctly identify my dog at all, the dogs interacted kindly on each side of the fence), the trip overall was super uncomfortable.
Love that there is even a dog park in that area. Has a big dog and little dog side with transition gates. There was even toys inside that we played with and left behind. Large bowls for water and seats. The fence wasn’t very secure and my pittie mastiff could jump it easily if she wanted to but it served its purpose. Was also very muddy so, don’t wear anything you don’t want to get dirty, I mean it is a dog park. All and all was very nice to have something a little closer. Parking could be an issue on nice days.
It is great that this park is available! It is spacious, there are trees for shade, and places for the owners to sit. However, my dog and I were the only ones there so we were walking around, getting used to the place, and I spotted so many piles of dog poop. If people cleaned up after their dogs then I would rate this place a 5 stars.
Great park that is well kept and has shade.
This area has not been taken good care of, but it is open. I’m glad we can find an area for the pups to run on the way of our road trip.
