🐾 How to Handle Aggressive Dogs at the Dog Park – Real Advice from Dog Owners
Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Located in Harrisburg, NC, Pharr Mill Road Park is a welcoming destination for families, outdoor lovers, and dog owners. The park offers open fields, natural walking trails, and a peaceful environment with scenic spots like ponds filled with turtles and beautiful nature areas. It’s a popular spot for walking dogs along the pet-friendly trails or enjoying a morning stroll with friends. The shaded trails and wooded areas make it an enjoyable place for dog-friendly hiking year-round, although some sections (such as a boardwalk over a marshy area) may experience wear and require careful navigation.
While the park primarily caters to walkers and families—with a playground, open field, benches, and picnic tables—it is also dog-friendly, with dog waste bag stations available. The well-maintained setting and relaxed atmosphere make it a great choice for North Carolina dog owners seeking safe outdoor fun. The small parking lot suggests the park can get busy, especially on weekends, so early arrival is recommended. Pharr Mill Road Park does not have a dedicated fenced dog park area, but leashed dogs will enjoy the variety of natural sights and a pet-friendly walking experience.
Absolutely gorgeous park with amazing trails
I absolutely love this trail only thing is they don’t keep it up & clean like it use to be. Grass super tall trail parts are weak. I seen the biggest snake which is why I haven’t returned. I feel like if it was more kept up and they put something down to keep the snakes at a distance that would be lovely. To many children and pets come here for stuff like that. I understand it’s nature but it’s also things that can be done to make it a more safe environment for everyone
I meet friends here in the morning to walk, and we really enjoy this park for that purpose.
There is one thing though that should be mentioned for improvement. There is a section of the trail that is a boardwalk, which is needed because of the marshy area near Rocky River.
The problem: There are several boards that give way when you step on them. This is a trip hazard.
Find this section by walking the loop counter-clockwise starting at the parking lot. When you gat to the first bench on the boardwalk area, proceed 25 paces further. You will find the boards that need to be fixed! They don’t look different, but they yield when you step on them!
It’s a nice park. There are trails to walk, a lake with turtles and fish, bridges, benches and playground for kids. They have swings There, so even adults can use them. It looks nice and well kept
Nice park with good amount of play area for the kids. Though it is not covered and can get hot. There are nice walking trails. Also historic area of the church from back in the 1754 (in photo). Walking trails are nice and shaded a good bit. The pond is nice and there are many turtles.
