Located along River St in Hackensack, New Jersey, Johnson Park offers a welcoming space for families, pet owners, and outdoor enthusiasts alike. While not an official dog park, Johnson Park provides a relaxing environment with wide open grassy areas that are ideal for dog walking, casual play, and pet-friendly strolls. The park connects to the scenic Greenway path system, stretching 2.5 miles along the Hackensack River, perfect for dog-friendly hiking and leisurely walks beside the water.
Beyond its dog-friendly trails and open green fields, Johnson Park features amenities such as a spacious children’s playground, well-maintained soccer fields, five public tennis courts, and a peaceful riverside walking trail. Ample parking adjacent to the main entrance makes access stress-free. Although the park boasts beautiful scenery, seating for owners, and shaded areas, there is no mention of designated off-leash areas, fenced dog zones, or dog-specific equipment. The park is appreciated for its cleanliness, safety, and peaceful atmosphere just a short drive from central Hackensack.
it was a lovely little park it had a tennis and lovely bike/ walk track it was not too hot today , so it was a good way to spend a couple hours trying to perfect the handling of a small drone which ended up in the trees . The view of the river was good nearer to the banks was very murky and the ducks were nowhere in sight.
Beautiful open space kids play soccer on the weekends here beautiful playground and nice long walking trail there’s a nice pond or geese and other animals are and I just it’s just a lovely nice area to be in nice and peaceful right along the highway but you know still get a sense of nature and all that good stuff that you would like to get anyone to get away from things for a minute so it’s definitely a nice nice little piece of mind here
NICE PARK.
Soccer field, tennis courts open to public, kids playground and relaxing walk by the river. Big parking lot. Closes at 10 pm.
Great park for soccer enthusiasts as there are two very well maintained fields. There are also five quite nice tennis courts and a small kiddie playground. The park is adjacent to the Greenway path system that stretches south 2.5 miles along the Hackensack river. Huge expense of grass off the main parking parking area, which has ample spaces. No picnic tables. Safe during daylight hours. Some limited parking located off the roadway down from the maintenance building entrance.
Johnson Park is a great spot for families, and the playground was definitely the highlight for us. It’s spacious, clean, and has plenty of equipment to keep kids entertained for a while. My little one had a blast exploring the different play areas, and there’s enough seating nearby for parents to relax while keeping an eye out. The park itself feels safe and well-kept, with open space if you want to walk around or have a picnic. Parking was easy, which made the whole visit stress-free. A really nice place to bring kids to burn off energy and enjoy some outdoor time.
