The park is comprised of two fenced in sections for dogs and a playing field primarily used for lacrosse. There is not a playground for children.

Trails for hiking are located down the path and at the back of the lacrosse field.

The dog park has wood chips and dirt in the larger section and grass, dirt and wood chips in the smaller section.

While it is maintained and cared for by parks & rec and volunteers, there are some owners that do not follow the rules leaving messes behind.

Thankfully there are others that will periodically clean up others mess.

I came to this park after reading in the local newspaper about the group from the Guilford Community Garden seeking donations to create a new community garden. I wanted to check out the location where the garden will be established. It’s situated at the end of a path between the dog park and the sports field.

This area was originally a community garden in the 1970s and later became a site for experimental plantings of American Chestnut trees. In recent years, it has become overrun with invasive plants.

The Guilford dog park is but one section of Nut Plains park. The dog park is mulch covered, with shade from trees and a variety of equipment and obstacles. Trash and bags, but no running water. People and dogs were super friendly.

Wonderfully shaded, large dog park. Big & little dog sides, both with plenty of benches and other amenities like waste bags, water, tennis balls, and agility equipment. Well-maintained and clean. People & pups are very friendly. The town and all of the volunteers have certainly created an amazing space for dogs to be dogs.

Nice dog park. They had obstacle courses, ton of tennis balls, even tennis racket to throw them with. Small dog and large dog area. Poop bags and even very nice water dispenser for dogs. Add on a doggie pool and a little bit more grass and the dog park would be perfect! It’s 20 minutes away from me but I will definitely be back.
