Nestled in the charming community of Grosse Pointe Shores, MI, the Grosse Pointe Shores Dog Park offers a clean and well-kept haven for local dogs and their owners. This private park is exclusively for residents of Grosse Pointe Shores, ensuring a quieter and more intimate experience than larger, public dog parks in the area. Residents pay an annual fee and provide proof of their pet’s immunizations for membership, highlighting a commitment to safety and responsible pet ownership.
The park, although small, boasts solid maintenance, a friendly local vibe for those who qualify, and convenient amenities like a dedicated dog water fountain enjoyed by both dogs and their owners. Grosse Pointe Shores Dog Park is accessible via a wheelchair-friendly parking lot, making it inclusive for all residents. If you seek alternative pet-friendly trails or more expansive dog-friendly parks nearby, try the larger park in Harper Woods, which is open to the public.
Private park for members only.
Horrible private park for snobs
A city DOG park… For only those who live there 👀
Crazy how a city council can determine which Michigan residents can be there with their animal.
It is a private park for residents only. While out walking my dog while visiting family, I was told by one of those local residents that “I was not welcome there”.
Yes, it’s for residents. We’re a tiny community, we pay very high local taxes, and those who wish to use the dog park pay an additional annual fee, plus we have to provide proof of immunization. It’s small because it was set up as kind of an experiment to see if it would take off; if it had, the village would likely have expanded it. Unfortunately, not too many residents use it, probably because it’s small, so we have kind of a vicious circle situation. Still, it’s very well maintained and my dog enjoys herself there (she loves the drinking fountain).
I truly don’t understand the sour grapes evinced by other “reviewers.” Why anyone would want to crash such a tiny dog park is beyond me; I believe there’s a much larger and more interesting one in Harper Woods that’s available to everyone.
