Awesome camping along the water at Pickerel Point. Some nice hikes and a beach with concessions. There’s some businesses in the village within the park for supplies and teats too.

Promised Land State Park Review: A Must-Stop Camping Destination in Pennsylvania

I visited Promised Land State Park during an East Coast camping trip, and it quickly became one of the most memorable stops along the way. This park truly stands out for its size, serenity, and natural beauty. Even with over 500 campsites spread across multiple campgrounds, it never felt crowded. The layout is smart, the spacing generous, and the peaceful forest setting adds to the sense of calm you get the moment you arrive.

The hiking here is excellent—trails are well-marked and varied, from short scenic loops to longer treks past creeks, waterfalls, and wooded ridges. Whether you’re looking to stretch your legs or spend a full day on foot, there’s plenty to explore.

What impressed me most was how well maintained everything was. The park staff clearly take pride in keeping Promised Land in great shape. From the clean facilities to the quiet, undisturbed feel of the forest, this is a top-notch destination for anyone traveling through Pennsylvania. If you’re exploring the East Coast by RV, campervan, or just car camping—Promised Land State Park is absolutely worth a stop.

One of my favorite spots to camp. There is a beautiful little beach and playground in the day use area with lots of pavilions, picnic tables, grills, etc. You can rent boats, life vests, and all your water needs. The educational program is fantastic and the leader really engages the kids. The sites are spacious and the campground is well maintained.

Lovely place for paddling, swimming, and hiking. The main lake is just about ideal for kayaking or canoeing. I recommend checking out the Little Falls Trail, as well. Lots of nice views for a relatively short hike.
