🐾 Kids at the Dog Park: Real Stories, Safety Risks & Smarter Solutions

Brown Bark Park offers a tranquil escape for dog owners and nature enthusiasts alike in the heart of Greensboro, North Carolina. While not a traditional, fully equipped dog park, this pet-friendly area is known for its picturesque walking and hiking trails including the well-loved Townsend Trail, which offers beautiful lake views, rolling hills, water access points, and plenty of high-canopy shade for both humans and pups. The park is maintained and cared for, making it a popular spot among locals seeking a peaceful stroll or jog with their four-legged friends.
The park features several natural amenities such as trails with benches, limited but available parking, streams, wetlands boardwalks, and open green spaces where you and your dog can relax or play. There are both small and larger enclosed pet areas, though some visitors find these spaces limited in size and not fully fenced in. Brown Bark Park is best suited for leashed walks, connecting with nature, and enjoying quiet moments by the water – making it a unique dog-friendly destination near Lake Townsend.
It’s peaceful and quiet. A lovely place to walk around, and whenever it snows it is fun to sled down the hills. Be careful, you might fall in a creek
One of my favorite places to get away from the day to day stress. As soon as you step on the boardwalks in the wetlands it takes you to a different world far removed from Greensboro. Be on the look out for birds, ducks and other wildlife as they are around ever corner. Be sure to find the trails to serenity falls and take a moment to watch the ducks in the streams. Dog friendly!
I live right across the street from the park. It is an enjoyable spot to walk, play, and relax. It is well cared for and I highly recommend it to anyone.
Park is slightly misleading. More like a creek with trees around it in the heart of Hamilton Forest neighborhood. Some open space, but mostly used by the locals to walk or jog around as a sidewalk is provided.
Not really much of a park – more like a natural area with a sidewalk around it. But that’s OK because it’s a nice place. There is a concrete slab with some ramps for skateboarders and recently a “take one, leave one” neighborhood library has been added.
