Near the bottom, the trail was in good condition, and the weather was pleasant. Traversing across the top on Coal Creek and Farmers trails, there were a lot of overgrown, thorny bushes and fallen trees. These sections of the trails have been neglected. The views from the base of the Mesa were worth the tough conditions though.

Super fun hike. Are a couple creek crossings you have to do but otherwise its smoothing sailing. There was multiple people there hiking but I never ran into anyone or another dog.

Great parking lot for large horse trailers. Loved the Kannah Creek trail. Rocky but doable. I could hear the creek much of the way. Drinking spots fort the horse. We went through a Juniper forest, scrub oak habitat, and pinyon habitat. In 2.7 miles we gained almost 1000 ft elevation. Up, flatter, up, flatter so it makes a great conditioning trail. Views of the grand mesa. Fire area clear to see. Shade on and off, starts at 6,000 ft +. Cooler with some breeze. Minimal ability to gait.
