If you’re looking for a dog park in Grafton, West Virginia, Grafton City Park and Campground offers pet-friendly access along the beautiful Tygart River, just below the dam. This peaceful destination is known for its large, open spaces, easy access for big vehicles, and a welcoming atmosphere for both pets and their owners. Nature lovers will appreciate the proximity to Tygart Lake and scenic river views, making it a prime spot for dog-friendly hiking or leisurely walks.
The park features wide campground sites, paved areas for easy walks, and a playground for children—making it ideal for families. While amenities such as a bathhouse and water features for dogs aren’t advertised, visitors enjoy the quiet environment, secure fencing for dogs (thanks to neighboring facilities), and direct river access for outdoor activities like kayaking. It’s a laid-back retreat where your pup can join you for an adventure along the pet-friendly trails of Grafton.
Big enough to get a 43′ fifth wheel in…but it was close haha. Spot 16 worked great for me. Careful for the large dip on the road closest to the river, you WILL drag, luckily I was warned first. Staff was great and very helpful over the phone.
A really cool place to spend quiet time with the kiddos. Sadly their old-school metal playground equipment is slowly being removed, but the kids still like playing in the shadow of the dam. Don’t expect any amenities though.
Average campground. Most sites are spacious but could be better in the visual aspect. Close proximity to Tygart lake and on the river below the Dam. Price for a full hookup is ok.
Grafton city campground, is a good last go to. Usually sites available. There are always full timers. Full hook ups are a plus and price is average. Some paved road areas for young kids to ride on. There Is no bath house, and firewood not available at least not advertised as having any. Maintenance of campground is poor grass is usually high some sites are muddy, sites are close to each other, there are very dangerous “widow maker” dead limbs on multiple trees above sites! This holiday weekend half of the sites had electricity problems so they were not rented. We are here at least twice a year and in the last 4 yes not much has changed.
We have been here for 2 months and love it. Right on the Tygart River right at the base of the dam. Nice little playground for the kids. Nothing fancy but if you like to kayak the ramp is right there.
