Some water bars were big enough to have to take skis off. Could use some bridges in a few places. Well layed out trails-had fun!
The scenery is incredible and the history is rich. Soup and cookies are highlights as well as warm fires and new friendships.
This is a special place. The trails are apectacular as are the sunset vistas!
There are lots of great trails here at various difficulty levels – definitely a forest hike more than a rocky one with no scrambling over boulders or anything though changes in elevation can add some challenge (as can the heat!). Trail blazes are numbers at (most) intersections and these are intuitive alongside a map but very unobtrusive as you’re walking in the summer. We missed a few but did not get lost on our hikes. There are plenty of bugs so I recommend bug spray if that bothers you. We came in July and happened upon tons of wild blueberries, so in the summer bring a Ziploc or something so you don’t have to do what we did and fold your only map into a cup!
Overall this is a lovely part of the world and I recommend it for a very quiet getaway. The drive is pretty long on gravel up to the hill, and cell service up here does not exist, but otherwise few warnings are needed.
What a delightful place for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing! Great trail options. Everything is well marked. The center itself is a cool building too- with snacks, a clean restroom, rentals and old pics showing that there’s a lot of nice history here.
Beautiful area for snowshoeing. The outdoor center has a cute setup where you can make your own grilled cheese
