The Geneva Wilderness Area Trailhead is a pet-friendly destination in Geneva, Florida, offering a blend of nature, hiking, and enjoyable spaces for both pups and their owners. With well-marked trails winding through varied scenery, it’s perfect for dog-friendly hiking and outdoor adventures. Wide, sandy paths and wilderness views make it a local favorite for a relaxing walk, with opportunities to explore mosses, lichen, and Florida wildlife along the way.
For dog owners, the highlight is a spacious, fenced-in dog park area where dogs can run off-leash, socialize, and play safely. Unique to this park is a small dog-friendly beach and pond, allowing pups to splash and swim—perfect for energetic pets needing an extra dose of fun! The site also offers educational facilities, picnic areas, restrooms, and ample parking, making it easy for families and individuals to visit.
I’d rate 5 stars if restrooms were available. Regardless, it was a great trail for hiking and running. The Flagler trail goes into Big Econ Park, but the main trail is a nice loop at about 1.8 miles.
Nice walk down old train right of way and around small marshy ponds. Many side trails. A long fishing pier into one of those ponds close to entrance. One side trail leads to a rustic chapel. Trails are largely sugar sand and aren’t shaded. Bring water, especially in the summer! Nice hike overall but not as pretty, varied and shaded as trailheads further south closer to the river.
It’s nice if u like to just walk. No restrooms, the bridge was flooded. I do not recommend it here for children. It’s just an over 5 mile walk not to even see the river. Disappointed
Visited Geneva Wilderness this weekend. We went early (around 0830) while the weather was cool. Trails were wide, in good shape, and clearly marked. It wasnt crowded and it was nice to get out and enjoy the nature. Would definitely go back and try a longer trail next time.
Great place to hike. The trails are well-kept with an abundance of nature to see and photograph.
