Elmwood Park Dog Park is a medium-sized, pet-friendly space located in Garfield, New Jersey, at 921 River Dr. It’s a popular spot among local dog owners, thanks to its open area and agility course, offering a safe and friendly environment for pups to play and exercise. The park is known for its welcoming community, where socialized dogs of all sizes can interact and enjoy the amenities together.
While there is only one shared area for all dogs without separation for small and large breeds, the park features an agility course that many owners and their pets appreciate. However, be aware that maintenance can be inconsistent, with occasional issues such as leftover waste and damaged agility equipment. Despite this, Elmwood Park Dog Park is typically not crowded, making it a great choice for owners seeking a peaceful outing with their dogs in Bergen County. Always supervise your pet, as the park relies on users to keep it clean and safe.
This could be a great dog park.
They don’t take care of it. Dog bags are never filled, rocks, glass and garbage was in the dirt they just dumped in the park to fill holes. Its a shame great group of dogs and their people go here.
We take our pup there regularly because it’s 5 minutes away and for the most part we like it. Would be nice to have the separation for the small and bigger dogs but everybody does seem OK with the mixed sizes most of the time. It would also be nice to have some type of water fountain.
Nice place to take the dog for a sunny day and open area.
Safe place and nice dog playground.
Not busy most of the time.
Most of the time empty 👍🏻
Medium sized dog park with an agility course. 60% covered in grass and leftover dog poo here and there. Not busy Sunday afternoon when I went there. My dog enjoyed the open space and the people there were nice. I would come back here the for agility course. Only one shared space for all sizes of dogs, so well socialized dogs is a must especially for all sizes.
It was very nice when it first opened. It went downhill very quickly. A lot of dog owners here are clueless and don’t discipline their dogs, nor do they pick up after their dogs. Also, lots of negligent parents let their kids play on the equipment meant for dogs, so half of the equipment (see-saw, jump, etc.) has been broken since opening. The grass has turned mostly to dirt and mud, little to no maintenance done by the municipality. This could be such a wonderful dog park for the regulars who come here, if it was better maintained and people stop letting their 2-4 kids run loose and break things. Also, there was a dog attack in the past year, with the victim dog allegedly dying due to injuries. Be careful with bringing your dogs here. If you don’t mind the drive, go to the dog parks at Montclair or Wood-Ridge instead.
