Alum Creek State Park Hiking Trail

Alum Creek State Park Hiking Trail offers a peaceful and natural grass hiking trail ranging from 1 to 3.6 miles. It features lush surroundings with colorful seasonal foliage, making it an enjoyable place for quiet walks with your dog. The trail is wheelchair accessible, although parts of the terrain can be wet, muddy, and monotonous, with flat grass paths lined by thick trees and bushes. Parking can be competitive due to a shared boat ramp parking area. It is a dog-friendly location, suitable for kids, but has limited amenities such as seating or shelters, and no clear information on off-leash areas or fencing.
Reviews
Fishing areas so small no parking available. No handicap areas that were available. We spent several hours driving around the lake access locations with my family being excited, ended up going home. I use a walker and a wheelchair after two recent total hip replacements, so I couldn’t climb in areas most people could
These trails really aren’t my cup of tea. The North and South loop are both grass trails and is right along Alum Creek. The vegetation and trees are so thick during summer that you can’t see the water. Nothing stands out. Everything looks the same the whole trail. Grass path with trees and bushes on each side. Some parts of trails can get VERY muddy
This is a nice grass trail that is mowed. It was a little confusing while parking as to where the trail starts but it’s on the right as you drive up to boat trailer parking area. If you go in the morning to walk, wear waterproof shoes because there’s a lot of dew in the grass, and your shoes and socks will get wet.
There are 3 different trails. A short one that it’s 1 mile, one that it’s around 2 miles, and one that’s 3.6 miles!! The nature is remarkable and it is a very peaceful place. I went to the trail that it is 3.6 miles, but unfortunately I couldn’t walk it all because it was very wet. But until the half that I could go it was very beautiful. I went at the Autumn and it was very colorful. It had green, red and yellow trees, and the road down was colorful too, since many leaves had fallen down.
Natural path with lush surroundings. The one way trail is quite wide, consisting of grass and ground cover. You can do the full 3.6 miles or do a 1 mile variant.
The trail starts and ends at a boat ramp, so you will be fighting for parking spots with trucks and trailers. But, once on the trail, it was pretty personal. I didn’t see anyone else until I was exciting the trail, and a couple was just starting.
Unfortunately, the terrain is most flat and monotonous. You can hear the surrounding boat and road traffic, though the it’s often drowned out by the bird chatter.
Overall, it was a pleasant walk but not sure if I’d want to walk it again. If you are looking to walk your dog, this would be a nice setting for them to explore.
