Bring towels if it’s rained recently, as some areas can get muddy. The park is a favorite destination for local pet owners looking for dog-friendly play and socialization in Gainesville, FL.
A nice little park. Newer Playground for kids, exercise equipment, large fenced and partitioned dog park in the back. If you take a shortcut through woods you can walk the (sometimes dusty) beautiful live Oak-canopied SW 17th Terrace road as well.
Read the historic marker as you enter the park. The land the park sits on, as well as the Idylwild neighborhood, elementary school, and huge amount of land all the way to I-75 and Paynes Prairie is the site of former Seranola Plantation. History and its harsh lessons are everywhere if you care to look.

Our favorite dog park. A few acres for them to run off leash, with a separate small dog area.
Creepy though, this used to be a plantation, and there’s a very tall tree towards the back of the small dog section with a rope hanging from it. Definitely a sobering thought.

Great park for kids, adults and dogs. I gave it a five, but there are no bathrooms. The playground equipment is fantastic. Well maintained, clean and up to date. And a nice pad underneath. There is a walking path and a large dog park. Also next to the playground several pieces of workout equipment for adults. There is also a large field for sports or some frisbee.

Really nice dog park. A few acres fully fenced with doggie pools, old growth trees, a few shady areas to sit for the peeps. There are areas of sand, grass, and dirt, agility equipment and a separate small dog area. I appreciate how large this is as my dog loves to run. There is also a wash station at one of the exits. There is water in buckets around. Very clean, I did not see any unclaimed poop.

Definitely a great doggie park! Theo enjoyed his time with all the rest of the doggies.
The park has separate sections for small and large dogs. The small area being really small, but seems adequate. The large dog area being tremendous, great for bigger breeds. Also two entrance ways on opposite ends for easy access.
Three little baby pools for your puppy to cool down in. Drawback is that they serve as drinking too. Dog bowls should definitely be something to add, but there is a hose that you can use for clean water. There’s also a giant puddle in the back of the park that seems to be a lot of fun for them.
The park itself seems pretty well maintained. During our visit it seemed that everyone is pretty on top of their puppies. Entrance way and some areas are pretty muddy, bring towels for your puppy before getting in the car.
There were a lot of dogs for Theo to play with and the crowd seemed to be a younger group. It was a great experience and will be back.
