Based on my visit to Cunningham Park two weeks ago, I can confidently say it’s a fantastic destination for a variety of outdoor activities. Located in a serene setting, the park provides an ideal environment for leisurely walks, with its well-maintained paths winding through lush greenery and offering calming views. The natural beauty, enhanced by the towering trees and open spaces, creates a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Whether you’re looking to enjoy a quiet stroll or a more vigorous hike, the park’s layout caters to all preferences.
One of the standout features is the basketball court, which is in excellent condition. The surface is smooth, and the hoops are well-kept, making it a great spot for a pickup game or some casual practice. It’s clear that the park invests in maintaining its recreational facilities, which adds to the overall enjoyment. The presence of good people further enhances the experience—fellow visitors were friendly and respectful, contributing to a positive community vibe.
The staff deserves special mention for their friendliness and helpfulness. They were approachable and seemed genuinely invested in ensuring everyone had a pleasant visit. Another highlight was the cleanliness of the bathrooms, which were spotless and well-stocked, a rare find in many public parks. This attention to hygiene reflects the park’s commitment to visitor comfort.
Overall, Cunningham Park is a gem that combines natural beauty with excellent amenities. It’s perfect for families, fitness enthusiasts, or anyone seeking a tranquil outing. The combination of scenic walks, a top-notch basketball court, welcoming people, nice staff, and clean facilities makes it a highly recommended destination. Very peaceful park. Great for walking /running and fresh air. I rate it 4 out of 5 stars. And took a star away because only 1 sink worked in the restroom when i had to wash my hands. Otherwise it’s very nice.

We love going here. Great place to fly kites and ride your bike. Even have a picnic. However, the bathrooms need better taking care of. The bathroom are very bad, and they close at 4 pm. So if you have a picnic, just keep that in mind.
Also, the colored picnic areas are reserved. If you don’t make a reservation on the park website for the colored areas, you will have to move when the person that has the reservation for the day gets there. If you want to know if those areas are reserved before setting up for your event, then look at the board with the color sign and see if there is a permit. If there is no permit for that day, then you get lucky and can use the area. Otherwise, get there early and set up on a non colored area.
For example I reserved an area for my family reunion and when I got there there was a kids birthday set up and I felt bad that they had to move due to them not knowing about the colored areas in the park.
I recommend that if you are having a birthday, gender reveal, or reunion, definitely do a reservation.

The atmosphere was so peaceful and relaxing.
Surrounded by trees and open space, it’s a great place to just sit and unwind.
Loved seeing squirrels running around — they made the whole place feel more alive.
Perfect spot for some quiet time or simply enjoying nature at its best.

First time visiting this park in Queens and was pleasantly surprised. It’s very clean, quiet and inviting. Love the fact it have exercise machines spread apart from one section to another. Visited on a Wednesday and was quiet. Also have a section to play bocce located near the bathroom (FYI, were very clean ) and a sitting bench under a tree. Very convenient for the players. The picnic area is big, clean and with lots of grill options. Great place to spend a
day.
