My family and I were in the area on a getaway––we’re not so much into the shopping scene and were looking in particular for places to enjoy the natural beauty of the Freeport area’s coastline. My wife came across the Tidebrook Preserve online and we thought we’d check it out. What a hidden treasure! Tidebrook is a modest little acreage that overlooks the Harraseeket River “bay” and offers several short and easy trails to access various vistas about the property. If you’re in Freeport and looking to stretch your legs somewhere other than Main Street, I can’t imagine you’ll do better than strolling through the Tidebrook Preserve!

Multiple trails, some with views to Harraseekett River. There were lots of shorebirds across the river on the mudflats. People come here to go clamming.

I visited the trail in February and it was muddy and a little icy, but not impassable. The views were beautiful and the forest peaceful. It was a quick and easy hike in the last few minutes of daylight. Also a fine night hike, since it is open 24hrs.

Little parking lot says no parking Nov 15-April 15, dogs are allowed, nice little wooded trails. Not too long so we do multiple colored arrows, yellow down to the water and across, blue looping through the woods. It’s a very quick shot from downtown Freeport but SO quiet you feel like you’re way out on your own.
