I grew up in a nice Indiana suburb of Chicago on a nice park. I moved here 30+ years ago for a job in town. This park is a gem; one of the many places that are surprisingly fun, especially the pickleball courts, there 6 courts and a group of 20-60 that play consistently either at 7:30am or 6pm most evenings on lighted courts. New players are welcomed! Ask about the team reach app if u want to see who’s playing each day. We have had a few tournaments at these courts also and most likely will in the future. The pool is great for children under 10 YO in my opinion, not so much for 10+ as the waters only 3 ft deep, not really a swimming pool and no diving boards. There’s also a driving range and good golf course close by. The pickle ball courts are on Bill Goodwin drive on the west side of the park next to the little league ball diamond.
I love that the bathrooms are open, as they used to be constantly locked years ago. I do wish there were soap dispensers and a way to dry my hands though. The main restrooms had neither.
Sapphire Bay is a great waterpark. It has two different body slides, a tube slide which I recommend going backwards down,obstacle pads with net, splash area with kids slide, zero depth entry, a baby/toddler area with blocked access to bigger pool for safety, there is a bench in the water for sitting with a good view of pool/kid area, lazy river has a dry section or a get wet section which is awesome. There is a sitting area in middle of lazy river. There is a few shaded areas with seating with many more around pool. Cabanas for rent. Has a nice concession stand and eating area. Clean bathrooms and family bathrooms. This waterpark is big enough for everyone to have fun but small enough to easily keep an eye on kids. The playground is fun as well and has a nice zipline swing. Kids love the free animal area where you can feed animals for .25. Also don’t miss the bird aviary with one or two that talk. The white one says hi and hello.
The actual park is great, and my kids love it. They have a little zoo and an aviary. The water park is also pretty awesome and a great place for kids to have fun during the summer months.
12/19/23- My wife brings the kids to the pool during the summer.Tonight we came to see the lights. It is well decorated with lights and also Christmas messages. Great time with the kids. A tradition we started 12 years ago.Santa 🎅 passes candy canes out. They appreciate donations. I didn’t take many pictures.They also have a radio station you can listen to while you drive around.Make sure to turn your lights off.Do not be a Richard in a truck 🚚😁
