Okay so you’ve built a covered bridge walkway to walk to the park: It would be SO MUCH BETTER if the city would install a kayak launch like the one that is at Red Bridge Park on Morse Reservoir. See picture! It’s always frustrating arguing with the people who fish from that concrete ramp all the time when we come back to take out.
Great for families. Small but very well maintained. Good place to launch kayak. Avoid the NULL fee at Geist Boat Launch. The creek gets you access to reservoir.
The size shown on the diagram shows quite a small park, but it’s misleading. There has been a long construction project cutting foot traffic access along the N-S road along the east edge (Florida). They have been building a covered bridge paralleling Florida Rd but it cuts the trail access from the park to other major areas. There are several picnic tables and good enjoyable trails along the White River, down about 0.45 miles to the west. The wood covered bridge is ~96% complete and when done, Geist (with good parking) will be a great place to stop and do a group picnic or walk & fish along the river. But also to tag on into the major trail system in the SW Fortville/Fishers area.
