🐾 Kids at the Dog Park: Real Stories, Safety Risks & Smarter Solutions
If you’ve spent time at an off-leash park, you’ve probably seen it:A parent strolls in with a stroller 🚼 or […]
Camp Canine is a membership-only dog park conveniently located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This large, fully-fenced dog park offers a safe and secure environment where dogs can roam freely off-leash across two spacious zones. The park emphasizes safety and health for all canine visitors, requiring proof of vaccination and a membership to enter, giving dog owners peace of mind regarding the well-being of their furry friends.
The park features benches, a covered pavilion providing shade and shelter, water fountains for thirsty pups, and waste stations equipped with poop bags for easy clean-up. While the park is well-maintained and wheelchair accessible, it currently offers open fields for running rather than interactive agility equipment or playground structures. Camp Canine is a great spot for socializing and exercise, providing a welcoming atmosphere for responsible pet owners in the heart of Fort Wayne.
I’ve been coming for the past year and love it! I’m not sure why everyone is saying it’s so horrible you have to pay for a membership. I feel safer knowing the dogs that are at the park with my puppy are vaccinated and not aggressive. If it weren’t a membership park, any dog could come in and you don’t know if they rabies, etc. There’s been a few incidents of dog bites but you sign a form saying you understand that it could happen. They keep the sidewalks shoveled and usually poop is picked up by the owners. The only thing wrong (and why i marked a star off) is that there is a large hole that dogs love to dig. It took the city a while to come get it filled but the dogs just keep digging at it. I wish they would find a solution to better it since dogs can trip in the hole.
Not as nice as the one out South. Not enough activities but still a cool place for dogs to meet and play. It was clean too and you can walk about with your friend without stepping in a mess.
Love this park and my dog has a blast! He always meets lots of new friends and usually the “parents” chat under the pavilion. The park out south has a few things like a hoop and a ramp to teach your dog a trick. Both parks are enjoyable. One suggestion would beto have a few shade areas scattered for the dogs.
I love taking Rocky to this park. It is membership only. All you have to do is go the Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation department and show proof that your dog is vaccinated and pay the NULL annual fee (NULL if you do it at the half year point). There are garbage bags you can use to clean up after your pet and the park is really cute. There are benches for you to sit on and there is also a water fountain for the dogs to drink out of.
Camp Canine is a relatively large outdoor fenced-in dog park with two zones of equal size. My only real complaint is that there is a lack of obstacles or things for the dogs to interact with – essentially just a couple of large fields. It’s a great place for dogs to run around, but would benefit from additional interactive architecture.
