Located right on the banks of the Hudson River, Ross Dock Picnic Area offers dog owners in Fort Lee, NJ, a serene and scenic destination for picnics, walks, and outdoor relaxation. With panoramic views of the George Washington Bridge and Manhattan skyline, this pet-friendly spot is ideal for those seeking a tranquil place to unwind with their furry friends. Enjoy expansive green spaces, shaded picnic areas, and numerous benches, all while soaking in the peaceful river breeze and sounds of nature.
The park features ample parking, BBQ spots, clean restrooms for visitors, and direct access to walking trails perfect for leashed walks and dog-friendly hikes. While not a traditional fenced dog park, Ross Dock is a welcoming place for pets and owners to enjoy fresh air and local trails together. Arriving early is recommended, especially on weekends, to secure picnic tables and parking spots due to the area’s popularity.
Very nice place, right on the water has clean(relatively) bathrooms, a lot of open space to play ball, dog friendly…
Not a lot of tables and grills so you need to come before 10AM to find an empty table/grill.
BUT if you’re bringing your own table/chairs/shade… you don’t care… anytime works!
You only pay for parking (parkmobile app) or there are like machines on site… it’s by the hour 2.5$/h weekend, 1.5$/h weekday…
Overall excellent place.
Beautiful views of the George Washington Bridge. It’s a great place to relax and enjoy the fresh air, just try to come early to beat the crowds. The shoreline path is about a mile long and leads to another rest area but it’s only open to pedestrians not bikes.
Beautiful spot with stunning views of the Hudson River and George Washington Bridge. Ross Dock is well-maintained, peaceful, and perfect for picnics, small gatherings, or just relaxing with nature. Plenty of space, picnic tables, and parking available. Great walking paths nearby and a nice breeze off the river. Highly recommended for a weekend outing with family or friends!
Great views of the GW Bridge and Manhattan. Lot of trail options by the river with steps leading up and down from the road too.
It was not very windy inspite of being close to the river and not very sunny either. There were lot of shade with trees.
We crossed 2 different picnic areas – Englewood and Ross Dock playgrounds. The picnic areas have a lot of parking available and even BBQ places. But very busy too.
This place is just so peaceful.
I honestly love it here — I could easily spend the whole day just sitting and relaxing without getting bored.
It’s great for a walk with the sea right in front of you. So quiet, all you hear is the sound of the waves and you can really breathe in the fresh air.
There’s a BBQ area, plenty of benches, lots of parking spots, and even a vending machine for water, juice, or some snacks. definitely recommend this park , it’s a hidden gem!!
