Fort Irwin Dog Park offers a secure and sociable space for dogs and their owners in the heart of the Mojave Desert. This pet-friendly park features both small and large dog areas, allowing pups of all sizes to play safely off-leash. The fencing is secure, giving you peace of mind while dogs socialize or get some exercise. With water available on both sides of the park, shaded canopies, and ample trash cans and dog waste stations, your visit will be convenient even during the desert’s warmer periods.
Visitors consistently praise the park’s cleanliness and friendly community vibe. The grounds are maintained (though somewhat uneven), and recent improvements have enhanced the overall experience despite the challenging environment—don’t expect grassy fields, but you’ll find a well-kept, dog-focused spot to relax. Lighting extends playtime into cooler evening hours, and seating is available for owners. It’s a welcoming option for anyone seeking dog-friendly activities, pet-friendly trails, or an easy social outlet in Fort Irwin!
My dog loves it here. It does need to be dug up and flattened. It’s easy to twist an ankle running around with my dog, it’s so uneven.
Gate is broken.
Dogs and their owners seem to have a great time socializing. There is even a secondary area from the main park.
Wow, my dog gets hot in England, I take my hat off to your dogs being in a far warmer place. Glad it sounds like more has been added now.
All the best to USA dogs and dogs owners from the UK !
The place is well maintained. Hit or miss for whether dogs are there or not. The fence is very secure. There is lighting for when the sun goes down and it cools off to a reasonable temperature for people and dogs to be out. There is a shade canopy that covers a reasonable portion of the park. Small and large dog area. Water for the dogs on both sides. Trash cans and poop bags on site. The restrooms are port-a-Johns and across the park, but generally clean. The biggest drawback is that there is no grass, but that’s probably unreasonable for the environment.
We’ve always had a great experience here. New ownership has done a great job of keeping the area clean. There is water available and dog bags provided if you forget your own.
