Stanley Dog Park

Stanley Dog Park is a community-favorite space in Fort Belvoir where dogs can run freely and socialize. Although it lacks signage explicitly labeling it as a dog park, it offers a large open grassy area perfect for playing fetch and meeting other dog owners. The park is fenced in, creating a safe environment, and features complimentary dog waste bags for convenience. While amenities like seating, water fountains, and playground equipment are minimal or absent, the park remains a cherished spot for local dog owners and their pets to enjoy off-leash play in a pleasant outdoor setting.

Great Dog Park!
They finally removed the unnecessary and ancient playground equipment so the space can flourish as the beautiful dog park it is.
“I can’t say enough good things about this dog park! It’s such a great space for my dog to run around and socialize with other pups. The open grass area is perfect for playing fetch and the out of commission playground adds an extra fun element.
While the management office has indicated that the park is intended to be a memorial, I want to clarify that the memorial is actually outside of the dog park. The rest of the park is open for dogs to enjoy and I believe it’s important to recognize the community’s need for a designated space for our furry friends to play and socialize.
Despite the mixed messaging, I highly recommend this park to anyone looking for a great spot to bring their pups. It’s a wonderful place to meet other dog owners and let our pets burn off some energy. Let’s continue to support this community space for our four-legged friends!”
This park is used as a dog park by the neighborhood, however, there is no signage suggesting it is a dog park. The complimentary bags for the dogs “golden nuggets” are located in front of the “temporary closed” Vernondale Kids’ Playground. There is also no fence or barrier between the dog park & the “temporary closed” Vernondale Kids Playground, however, there is a fence enclosing both parks.
