🐾 How to Handle Aggressive Dogs at the Dog Park – Real Advice from Dog Owners
Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Located at 920 S Santiago Dr, McLeod Park is a pet-friendly oasis in Florence, South Carolina, featuring a dog park area for locals and their four-legged friends. With wheelchair accessible entrances and parking, this park is designed for everyone to enjoy. Besides its dog park, McLeod Park offers a basketball court, skateboarding area, and child-friendly spaces, making it a versatile destination for families, pet owners, and outdoor enthusiasts.
However, experiences at the dog park are mixed. While the park’s general vibe and kid-friendly amenities get positive remarks—ranking among some visitors’ favorite places—dog owners should note some concerns. Several reviews have cited issues with fence maintenance, overgrown grass, and general upkeep, mentioning pests like chiggers and less crowd oversight. There are no clear mentions of separated areas for small or large dogs or on-site water amenities for pets. If you’re searching for dog-friendly hiking, accessible recreational areas, or a general spot for dog walking in Florence, McLeod Park is worth considering, but check current park conditions before your visit.

ONE OF MY TOP 5 PARKS I BEEN IN BRO BEST PLACES FOR ME
We went to this park in November 2023, and it’s a shame with the city of Florence is allowed this to become. I read reviews about a tree falling on a fence, the tree had rotted, and I was able to easily remove it and put the fence back together, but, the city has done nothing with it in years, including cutting any grass in there, and we came back with chiggers all over our pants, legs and shoes. In addition, the drug dealer showed up while we were there with our dogs, and sat under a tree across from the area. Will never go back. It’s a shame that Hartsville has a beautiful dog park, and we have nothing.
The dog park here sucks.
