Located at 1280 Hilton Rd & University St, Ferndale Dog Park is a dedicated dog park in Ferndale, Michigan, offering a safe, fenced-in area for dogs to run and play off-leash. This park is part of a larger community area that includes picnic tables, a public restroom, a playground, and open spaces for families and their pets to enjoy. Please note that membership is required for access, and a wheelchair-accessible entrance and parking lot make it easy for everyone to visit.
Dog owners in the greater Detroit area looking for a dog-friendly park with good amenities and a relaxing atmosphere will appreciate Ferndale Dog Park. The park boasts a well-maintained grassy run for pups and offers a family-friendly environment with a nearby playground and soccer field for kids. While the park is quieter than other nearby options, it provides a convenient space to exercise your pet, especially for locals. Visitors are encouraged to bring hand sanitizer, as some users have noted occasional cleanliness issues.
Needs membership!
As a medical courier, who travels a lot I look for dog parts for my service animal that needs to stretch his legs. I find that these membership only dog parks really hinder the people that need them.
All star ratings are for the bathroom, not the establishment.
The Ferndale Dog Park was the closest Google had to “Wilson Park”.
The bathroom here is a pretty common luxury outhouse. I have seen worse, but this is nothing special. The good thing about it is that people are already expecting it to be smelly… so if you can brave it yourself… go for it…. good luck.
Cute fenced area for the dogs to run and play in. Public restrooms. Picnic area, playground, and soccer field. One star off because I found a bag of poop and a used ear swab. Bring hand sanitizer.
Great park! It’s changing a lot the years. In the past 3 years (since 2015) they have added a dog park, tore down a school, built 20 homes, removed a roller skate rink, not about to add a skate park. You can still go there and have a great time with the dog and Slackline!
It’s a mediocre park at best. The biggest issue is just that there aren’t many people bringing their dogs here so there’s not much of a good experience for your pet to socialize. Also my dog was once bit on the face while she was there, so that wasn’t very cool.
Overall, it’s a pretty underwhelming place.
Mark Twain dog park is just 15 minutes north of here and that park is always busy with so many dogs, responsible pet owners who are super friendly, and it’s huge.
Maybe this place will improve over time?
But anyone who thinks this is a great dog park probably has just never been to an actual good one.
