Nestled in the Tinner Hill area, Cavalier Trail Park is a welcoming neighborhood green space perfect for casual outings with your pet. Located at 600 S Maple Ave, Falls Church, VA, this park is known for its beautifully designed pathways beside a tranquil creek, shaded playgrounds, and family-friendly atmosphere. While not exclusively a dog park, Cavalier Trail Park offers pet owners a pleasant spot to walk leashed dogs and enjoy the picturesque surroundings, making it a popular choice for those searching for pet-friendly trails in Falls Church.
The park also features tennis, pickleball, and basketball courts—though you’ll need to check for court schedules, as pickleball nets are locked and slots may be reserved. Shaded playground areas, swings, and a charming little bridge complement the landscape, offering fun for kids and families alike. With no public restrooms onsite, plan your trip accordingly, but make the most of the cool retail parking nearby and nearby pet-friendly destinations for a complete day out. While Cavaliers Trail Park may lack dedicated off-leash dog areas or canine amenities, its shaded walks and welcoming local vibe make it a reliable option for Falls Church dog owners seeking relaxing outdoor escapes.

Pickleball courts are by reservation only and nets are locked up when not in use. Tennis/pickleball courts are often reserved by Falls Church City residents during prime hours, so check the area for other open play, first-come first-serve courts if that is what you are looking for. Some hours are open play but you will need to check with the city as I am not sure what they are. There are no bathroom facilities in the park.

Small neighborhood park typical of the area where I found 8-10 welcoming pickleball players who were pretty good and provided me 2 hours of fun competitive games.

It’s beautifully designed park with a creek going alongside it. The park is small but the amenities such as a basketball and tennis court make up for the shortfall. Also, try the many shops around the park such as the comic book store to and and Falls Church Distillery to get a real feel for the Tinner Hill area.
