Armistead Park, managed by the Fairfax County Park Authority, offers a scenic, pet-friendly trail experience in Fairfax, Virginia. This local park features a paved pedestrian and bike path that runs alongside Bear Branch stream, making it an excellent option for dog-friendly hiking or leisurely walks with your pet. While there isn’t a dedicated fenced dog area, the wooded walking trails, grassy spaces, and exercise stations make it a popular spot amongst locals for dog walking and light outdoor activities.
The park boasts six fitness stations, benches, and a relaxed atmosphere with grassy expanses behind suburban homes and shady wooded stretches. While the parking is limited and there are no restroom facilities onsite, the tranquil setting and natural beauty, including regular deer and fox sightings, set it apart for nature-loving pet owners. Be mindful that the trail can become muddy or even unwalkable after heavy rainfall due to stream flooding, so plan visits accordingly.
This park is more of a wooded area surrounded by a paved trail. There are plenty of deer and foxes if tou take the time to look. I walk my dog here regularly, and there are always other dogs that pass. There are fitness stations along the trail, but I dont think ive ever seen them used. My daughter likes to hang from the pull-up bars.
