Had an amazing time hosting a BBQ at the shelter. Beautiful and clean, and a huge kitchen to utilize. Also, there is plenty of sports equipment and horseshoes to use! Only two cons about this venue: 1.) We had 5 guests drive around looking for our event before finally returning home because access to the shelter is through a gate with an “Authorized Vehicles Only” sign and the shelter is not visible from the main road. 2) We found out the wrong way that the two trees beside the shelter are Acacia trees, which have branches full of very long thorns. We had to pull one out of our guest. Beware and don’t go barefoot on the grass! 😬
Highland forest is such a wonderful place, you owe it to yourself to visit! Great to visit during any season, with many activities in winter to get you through (embrace) the snowy months
Very nice place to take your dogs or family. Trails could be better marked. But a beautiful place. 😊😊
Hiking and cross-country skiing trails. Went there in the winter with Boy/Cub Scouts and the trails seemed decent. Great for the kids to see nature, etc. Lots of animal tracks. There’s even a small frozen, yet flowing, waterfall… pretty cool.
If someone is planning a wedding in the summer or fall, I’m sure their facility would be a beautiful place to do it. The inside of the main building is decent and the view is incredible.
What a great place and a wonderful way to get the family outdoors!
