Recreation Park is a picturesque and spacious community park in the heart of Exeter, NH, known for its beautiful walking trails, open grassy spaces, and scenic views of the Exeter River. While the park is popular for family outings, kids’ sports, and leisurely strolls, it is important to note that dogs are not allowed at this park, and bringing a dog can result in a $100 fine, as indicated by clear signage and multiple visitor reports. Although some reviews mention seeing dogs off-leash in the past, the current policy strictly prohibits pets to maintain cleanliness and safety for all guests.
Visitors enjoy an easy, well-maintained walking path, benches, small gardens, and access to local Exeter landmarks, including the historic Great Dam area and beautiful river views. Families appreciate the large parking area, open play fields, picnic-friendly grassy lawns (with no designated picnic area), and nearby amenities like the Exeter Public Library. Please note that there are no restrooms or official shaded areas in the park.
