This is a big open field where dogs can run. Unleashed. There are homeless camps coming and going which means sometimes there’s other dogs that are leashed that sometimes aren’t friendly. And my dogs have found food scraps and abandoned camps. It’s only two blocks from where I live and my dogs look forward to going there. It’s not perfect but it’s a good place for them to run anyway.
There are mole holes all over this park. My dog broke his leg here when he tripped in one and had to be put down because he was too old for surgery or amputation. This park kills dogs. I wish I had never taken him here.
(2016) Just an open field with a straight dirt trail connecting streets, barely big enough for a double stroller, riddled with trash and vagabonds.
(12/7/2022)Edit: I do come here often to let my dog run freely in the “dog park” but it is not fenced in so I have to be vigilant near the residential street. The other roads are fairly blocked off by a business parking lot and a electricity transformer yard. I would love to see the city put in fences, gates, and trash cans like other dog parks….
It is a small park along river road. I like it because there is almost never any one there and I can just let my dog run and play. It is not maintained and has no trash removal on site. It also does not have a fenced in area so if your dog can not be off leash this is not a good park to be at. It is small and right next to the road so there can be some noise and it could be dangerous if a dog chases and runs into the road so you will need to have good verbal control. It is a little known nice little space your dog can run and play.
Lone Oak Park is now also an off-leash dog park. I’ve taken my dogs there since way before it was official 🙂 Now it’s good to see more neighbors and visitors using the dog park. Yes, it’s an open field, and it’s by the power station. The vagrant population has diminished with more people using the field. Come by and bring your pooch and frisbee!
