Amazing! This trail is actually Faraday road, the paved access road PGE uses to maintain the two dams they have there on the Clackamas River West of estacada. PGE allows hikers and bicyclists to use it. No vehicles save their own use the road, so it is very safe. It runs 4.5 miles from their maintenance buildings up to the North Fork Reservoir, a gentle 1-3% climb, is shaded for a good part of it, and the river is visible most of the time.

The beginning part of the trail is the old highway itself, which is easy to walk on. The river is down below and there is a trail to get to that. We are in our late 60’s/70’s and by the time we got to the start of the trail, we knew it would be hard on the knees going down and then back up again. It was enjoyable for us just to walk on the road. I am rating the trail based on the road only.
