FAQ for Suncoast Humane Society in Englewood Florida:
The new facility is beautiful, many play areas. Looks great! We adopted our fur baby after visiting the happy capys. My husband fell in love with Shuga, we couldn’t be more happy with her, she’s a goofy girl.❤️
We enjoyed visiting with the capybarras. The location is set up beautifully to ensure the residents dogs and cats have a good environment while they wait for new homes.
We have 3 cats from this shelter. Our first two experiences were excellent. However this last one we got, has given us a bad experience with this shelter. Not because of the cat but because of the shelter. We got Juniper from them over a month ago. First concern is they told us Juniper was a girl, Juniper turned out to be a boy. Honestly no big deal for us our other cats are super welcoming.2nd thing is they held a NULL deposit but we had to bring her back to get fixed to get it back…. Sounds great however every time we call or even go into the office they say the person to schedule it is not in and they take our number but no one reaches out. Not to mention, when we try to inform them about the mix up with her being a him they were not appropriate with their response. Not to be vulgar but we know what it looks like when a cat has a set of testicles! We have 2 other male cats and 4 other females we know the difference. With all this being said, if this shelter was to make this right by simply setting up the appointment they are holding our deposit for, then I will be happy to remove this post but until then it will stay up.
This is an amazing facility doing so many great things! A huge credit to and benefit for our community as well as the many animals they help. They even have a Capybara experience to give people a chance to meet these incredible creatures close up and personal. The animal enclosures are spacious and spotless. The care team and dog walkers keep there tenants very well cared for until they find their new home. The staff knows their animals and does a good job helping to match the right family to the right pet. All in a beautiful facility!
