This dog-friendly hiking area features rocky patches and stunning rock formations, making it especially appealing to adventurous dog owners and outdoor enthusiasts. The preserve is praised for its easy-to-navigate trails, peaceful atmosphere, and friendly visitors. There is convenient parking available near the Alpine Street Trail, and trail maps are distributed throughout the park for easy access. While not a traditional fenced dog park, the network of trails allows leashed pets to explore a variety of natural sights, from quartz and crystal deposits to local wildlife including birds, woodpeckers, and chipmunks.
Well marked and maintained. Took the Alpine Street Trail. Moderate to easy. Not much elevation. Heavily wooded. Fall colors still prevalent. Interesting rock formations. Serenaded by someone at the top of a rock formation playing a Native American flute and drum. Spiritual and magical.
Good hike. Nice mix of trails. Shark rock and the boulder outcropping are worth checking out. It’s bigger than it looks on google maps. Trails are very well marked.

The trails are well-marked. There are definitely some rocky patches on the trails, so if you’re not sure-footed, just take care. There are some beautiful rock formations, and the wildlife and scenery make this an excellent spot to get away from the city life easily. The folks you’ll meet along the trails are kind and helpful, if you actually see anyone. There is easy parking, and trails maps distributed well. There’s lots to see and experience, however I will reiterate that the terrain is tricky at times. Absolutely worth a visit!

This preserve features woodland trails, large boulders, small stream crossings, moderate inclines, and several boardwalks. Very beautiful area and if quiet, may encounter some amazing wildlife. I spotted a baby deer, rabbit, and various birds.

Beautiful place. I was on a road trip and stopped to hike the Alpine Street Trail. Some slightly challenging terrain- make sure to wear sturdy shoes- beautiful views, abundant birds, just a gorgeous well preserved wild space.
