If you’re searching for a dog park in Elyria, Ohio that offers scenic views, plenty of shade, and pet-friendly amenities, Lorain County Metro Parks High Meadows Shelter #1 is a fantastic choice. Conveniently located at 1750 Ford Rd, this park is known for its clean grounds, accessible walking and hiking trails, and family-oriented atmosphere. It’s a great place to enjoy pet-friendly hikes with your dog or bring the whole family for a fun day at the playground or picnic area.
What makes this pet-friendly park unique is its range of facilities including barbecue grills, covered picnic shelters, public restrooms, playgrounds with slides and swings, and wheelchair-accessible paths and parking. While dogs are allowed (on-leash), owners and their pets will appreciate the open grassy spaces perfect for playing fetch and relaxing under the shade of mature trees. The park is well-maintained year-round and offers plenty of seating and opportunities to enjoy local events or host gatherings such as birthday parties.
Beautiful park, clean and very well kept. Bathrooms are clean and the exercise path is used by many! Walkers, runners, cyclists, skaters + even the ROTC.
We bring our kids here all the time, and they love it. They love to go to “the park with the tire swing.” The park (playground and trail) is always clean, never overly crowded. When there is a little bit of crowd, there’s more than enough space and shade to play in the grass (soccer, volleyball, football, etc.). The bathrooms are okay; they’re cleaner than most.
Reserved a shelter for my nieces b’day party . The park & Rec was very helpful needed to change my reservation time & they allowed me to just transfer the payment I had already made to the new open time slot . Picnic Area was very clean & had a lot of space , BUT THE ONE BAD THING IS I HAD SHELTER 1 & IT HAD LOTS OF BEES .
Well maintained. Beautiful scenery and easy to walk/ride. Good for kids. The only negative is the loud traffic nearby.
Fall is in bloom and the leaves are changing colors. This park a great park to see some beautiful fall foliage.
