Amazing off the beaten trail stop. We go every year. Tons to do. Definitely need to go to the look out towers after sunset to see the stars.
We have camped there a couple of times. Likely the most secluded place that we have ever camped. Primitive camping to be sure, think there are 8 spots available. Extreme tree cover, so much so that it is likely a good 15 degrees or more cooler than out in the sun. Peaceful and quiet.
This was the first place we ever camped at when we moved to West Virginia. It was like our first home here. It gave us exactly what we needed. Rocks to climb, caves to explore, just down the road a beautiful clear river called otter creek. If you want to stay the night it’s only 5 bucks a night and it’s worth it. There’s about 5 or 6 lots but it’s a great spot.
Clean, secluded, rustic and little-used campsite. It’s a bit of a drive off the main road, but makes a really good base camp for exploring the Cheat Mountain area or Otter Creek Wilderness. Definitely check out the Bickle Knob tower a few miles to the east if you go.
Very secluded and peaceful. It was extremely clean and the scenery is absolutely phenomenal. There are rock faces all throughout the campground and decent hiking trails. Once the sun goes down expect to hear some creepy sounds and creatures sneaking around. If Bigfoot exists it’s definitely here!
