Friends of Elkin Dog Park is a convenient and pet-friendly dog park located in the heart of downtown Elkin, North Carolina, near the picturesque Yadkin River. This fenced-in dog park offers a safe place for dogs to exercise and socialize off-leash while their owners relax and enjoy the scenic surroundings. The park is wheelchair accessible and provides easy parking nearby, making it accessible for all dog owners in the Elkin area.
The park features separate fenced areas for large and small dogs, double-gated entrances for added safety, covered seating, and multiple water stations to keep your pet comfortable and hydrated. Waste stations stocked with poop bags help keep the park clean and enjoyable for everyone. Although primarily designed for dogs to play and socialize, the location also offers access to beautiful riverside walking trails for those looking to enjoy a dog-friendly hike in Elkin.
To answer some of your questions, yes! downtown Elkin has a fenced-in dog park. It’s at Crater Park and the entrance is just to the west of the old Crater Park entrance, but you need to access it off of Commerce St. These photos I am seeing in the main header are not of the town’s dog park, but of our Municipal Park north of downtown, where there is no dog park. The actual dog park IS IN DOWNTOWN, near the Yadkin River. If you drive to the river access one block east of Bridge St, the dog park is on the same gravel road that you take from E Commerce that leads to you the boat launching area. Parking is at the boat launch parking lot. Dogs must be on a leash until they are inside the fenced-in area, and also when you are returning to your vehicle, as Elkin has a leash law. The address for your GPS for Crater Park is 310 Standard St.
UPDATE: After fall 2020 flooding at the park, the dog park will be relocated soon to E Standard St in downtown. The original location is currently closed.
It’s not really a dog park but there is a great walk along the river to some falls and a cool bridge!
It’s a pretty park and a nice place to walk a dog on a leash, however there isn’t any sort of fenced in area here. There are poop stations and it seems quite well-maintained. However it’s not really a dog park unless there is a fenced in area imo. Looking at other reviews it seems there is another spot in town that may be more appropriate for letting a dog run off leash.
I really like this large dog park. 2 water stations. Completely fenced in, with a reasonable size fenced in entrance. A place to sit that is covered. There are plenty of poop stations.
This place is going to be nice when finished although not as nice as the Jonesville Parkway one just around the corner. Partly why I like the other one better is that it had a lot of shade.
It’s under construction so check it out later. Parking is across the street with the park, in an industrial area. So you have to cross the street. It’s huge which will be great, having both large and small dog areas. There are benches in a few places but no shade unless you count a couple of small triangle shades that are erected over the benches.
