This was a great stretch of rail trail. I did approximately 15 miles one way before it officially ended, although the trail did appear to continue on, though not groomed as nice as the actual designated rail trail. Beautiful scenery along the way – a nice mix of urban and rural areas. The northern section seems to be more urban, whereas the southern portion of the trail is mostly rural. If you are looking to start at a lower elevation and work your way to a higher elevation, start at the southern end of the trail. This is helpful advice, especially if you are riding a bicycle on this trail. It is easier to start fresh pedaling up the gradual incline and then cruise back down hill to your starting point than to start off easy and end your ride by having to pedal up the incline grade.

This is an excellent trail to ride. A lot of areas are covered over with trees along the path. Very quiet away from traffic with beautiful scenes. This trail is suitable for any type of Bicycle to ride on, or is perfect for a walk or jog. This trail is completely flat, except for going up a slight incline, hilly area around the Mount Gretna area. It does cross some of the roads in the area. Trail is posted for electric bikes with a class 1 rating going no more than 15 mph. Trail surface is pretty level and suitable for most any kind of bicycle tires. There are plenty of places to stop and relax, such as the park with a pavilion, in the village of Lawn. There is also a pavilion at the Mount Gretna trailhead next to the Colebrook Crossing ice cream shop. In Mount Gretna there are places to stop at during summertime hours.

Mostly shaded rail trail. Some spots have deeper gravel which can slow a bike rider down considerably. Despite that, the trail us a very enjoyable and fun experience. Bring the whole family.
