Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Located at 307 Burnside Ave, Martin Park stands out as one of the top pet-friendly parks in East Hartford, Connecticut. This welcoming space offers plenty of activities for both two- and four-legged visitors, including hiking and walking trails ideal for dog lovers. With shaded areas, picnic tables, a skate park, ballfields, and a recently updated playground, it’s a great spot for families and dogs to enjoy together. Accessibility is a priority here, as both the entrance and parking lot offer wheelchair access, making it inclusive for all.
Dog owners will appreciate the numerous trash bins throughout the park, making it easy to clean up after pets and keep the space tidy—even if a few visitors need reminders! Trails provide scenic routes for leashed dog walks, and shade helps keep your canine cool on hot days. While there isn’t a fenced dog-specific area, Martin Park remains a favorite for leisurely strolls, dog-friendly hiking, family picnics, and active outings in East Hartford.
Parking lot has no lines for spots. Love the new(er) playground equipment! Definitely great for family of multiple ages. Not a stroller friendly park
Very nice and clean. Shaded area so it is great for the hot days. There is trials to walk or bike on as well. Skate park and pool.
What can I say? A very old park that it looks like it’s frozen in the 1980’s. No upgrades, nothing attractive, old broken spotlights on the poles, and the playground for the kids are so old that don’t make sense. The picnic areas are extremely old as well. The only good thing here is the trail walk. And even that be careful because the bridge has not been remodeled and a lot of the platform on the bridge is broken so it can be dangerous walking through it. I used to come here when little and pretty much nothing has changed. Good for the nostalgia, the basketball court and the trail.
Park has potential to be a beautiful place for families to gather. Unfortunately during our visit I had to keep a very watchful eye because of all the various items and trash strewn about the playground. It doesn’t take much to pick up and throw your stuff away, come on people. I’m literally looking at four trash cans right now. Are all your arms broken? This is why we can’t have nice things. PICK UP YOUR JUNK!
Nice for walking and biking plenty to do there. Walk ur dog.
