🐾 Kids at the Dog Park: Real Stories, Safety Risks & Smarter Solutions
If you’ve spent time at an off-leash park, you’ve probably seen it:A parent strolls in with a stroller 🚼 or […]
Hunters Creek County Park in East Aurora, New York is a beloved destination for local dog owners and outdoor enthusiasts. This pet-friendly gem offers a vast network of scenic hiking trails winding along the creek, through woods and meadows—perfect for dog-friendly hiking, running, or exploring nature with your leashed companion. Visitors praise the park’s natural beauty, variety of landscapes, and peaceful ambiance, making it a great spot for dog owners to unplug and let their pups stretch their legs.
While the park features plentiful benches and trees for shade, keep in mind amenities are fairly basic: there is no permanent water source for dogs, so be sure to bring your own water. There is a designated, fenced-in area where dogs can run off-leash, offering a safe space for play. However, after rain the trails and open fields can become muddy—so prepare for a little mess and a lot of tail-wagging fun! Free parking is available in both upper and lower lots, and the park is open year-round for hiking and dog walking.
Well marked trails through the woods on both sides of Hunters Creek. Great place to mountain bike as well as hiking

A beautiful hike. Went with a group and we all ejoyed it. We took Sgt. Mark, trail toward the end we lost the marker, but followed the pink trail out

We hike on a rainy day, it was muddy and a little slippery… And we LOVED it. What a great area! We parked in the upper lot and hiked several trails on the south end of the park along the creek. The waters were rushing from all the rain and we got wet but had fun. Plan to go back in summer when it dries out a bit 😊

Great spot to hike, looks fantastic for off road biking too… A number of new jumps on the upper red loop looked pretty knarly. Hiked along the water from lower parking lot then back through the creek itself – kids loved that! Trails are well worn, but they’re not well marked for first time visitors. Trails are fairly short, so quick to become familiar with. Mid summer, water level is normally ankle deep, but a few deeper spots 3-4 feet to cool off. Highly recommend, especially on a day off work with the kids.
Update: back for winter hike back into Mossy Point… Great trails and hike!!

Super scenic and range of landscapes. Lots of trails, but the markings/maps there aren’t great. I would recommend pulling up one of the online maps that are available online. 100 percent worth going though, and the paths are pretty interconnected so it was fun to explore.
