If you’re searching for a scenic and pet-friendly outdoor destination, Loyalsock Trailhead Dutchman Falls in Dushore, Pennsylvania, is a top choice. Known for its well-marked, dog-friendly hiking trails and beautiful waterfall views, this location welcomes dogs and their owners for relaxing walks or more challenging hikes. Visitors praise the massive open spaces where pups can run and enjoy the fresh air, as well as the well-maintained surroundings that provide a peaceful, clean environment for all.
The trail features rocky and steep sections, especially near the waterfalls, making it ideal for adventurous dogs and active owners. Ample parking and restroom facilities are available near the trailhead, and the area generally remains clean and inviting thanks to attentive upkeep and responsible visitors. While there isn’t a dedicated fenced dog park, the large fields and expansive trails make it a favorite for dogs who love exploring.
The Eastern terminus of the Loyalsock Trail, there are plenty of little day hikes and interesting things to see near here.
Well marked trails leading to the falls and to other areas along the river. I went for the falls. Trail is short walk and is rocky and steep as you start out but its not a bad walk. The falls has a small drop and a larger drop, both that you can easily walk to and get up close to and enjoy. Plenty of parking and a restroom on site
It was quite the trail in getting to the waterfall. It was rocky and steep but, it does get flatter towards the end. On the way back we took a different route which was uphill but a little easier, overall it was challenging.
East end parking for thru hiking the Loyalsock trail (59.2 miles). This is a great section of the trail also, Sones Pond, the Haystacks and Dutchman falls. Please practice LNT ( LEAVE NO TRACE ) If everyone does their share, places like this will remain beautiful and unspoiled.
Fun hiking location. The more difficult trail can be tricky at times. The trails are well marked so getting lost would be difficult. The Dutchman falls are beautiful and located close to the parking locations. The haystacks are a decent walk away. Overall the location is beautiful, and I would recommend it to anyone getting into hiking or someone who wants a relaxing walk through the forest and along the creek.
