Observation Park offers a unique urban experience for dog owners in Duluth, MN. Located at 914 W 3rd St, this dog-friendly park features an off-leash dog run area, making it a convenient spot for local residents and visitors to let their pups play and socialize. Although the park itself is more intimate and low-traffic compared to other Duluth parks, it stands out thanks to its scenic overlook, which provides breathtaking views of the Duluth skyline—a true local favorite for dog walks and sunset watchers alike.
While Observation Park boasts several amenities, such as a playground and basketball court, it’s important to note some considerations for pet owners. The dog run is on the smaller side, with no grass or water fountain for pets. Parking is limited; most visitors park across the street in the neighborhood and cross a busy road, so extra caution is needed. For those seeking a quiet, dog-friendly park with city overlook views and adjacent hiking paths, Observation Park remains a noteworthy destination in Duluth.

This is one of the best local parks around! It’s normally not very busy so I use the basketball court’s there a fair amount. Behind the park is a path leading to a large overlook of the city. Its a great place to share a drink or two, or watch the 4th of July firework show. There is a full play area for dogs too so the pups can go wild. Like most parks in duluth, observation park is very fun and unique!

No car parking, you have to park a Ross the street in the neighborhood. Makes it very scary to cross over busy street with kids and pets. Small dog run, no water and no grass. Run down playground and the basketball section isn’t even usable. Shame on the city for not upkeeping. Duluth spends millions on bike paths fot adults and children get sketchy parks? Its a shame cause this area has so much potential
