Easy, short trail perfect for dog walking and beginner hikers. Lots of Herons live nearby in the tops of the trees – you might see one flying over the water!

The trail is poorly marked took us a few minutes to find it. There a small parking lot in the entrance of apartments. To get to trail you go right till you see a fence there’s a rock path and you’ll see small green signs that will say kincora heron trail. I saw a lot of geese, a cardinal, twelve-spotted skimmers, and butterflies. Its mostly grassy paths with a few tiny boardwalks.

Poorly marked park just a few miles from Dulles airport.

Red rock and mud with grass growing over it.

Abuts a concrete amalgam of housing that is always within view.

There are wood walkways and viewing areas and the best part is the short (100 yard) walk along a river housing the nests of numerous herons.

Whole hike was under 15 minutes for an out and back.
