Smells like dirty toilets. Terrible service. Staff don’t understand a passport is a valid form of ID. There was a hair in my nachos. Won’t be back.
I ordered chicken parmesan and the dinner included a side salad. I had blue cheese dressing, and the salad was quite good. My chicken parm dish was large, but not noteworthy. NULL.00. I ordered a Sam Adam’s beer, which was on tap. I was given a glass of flat, odd tasting beer, which I sent right back, and got a LA Gunitas IPA, which was fine.
My wife had grilled salmon, served with white rice and green beans. Decent sized portion, but she likes everything plain and without seasoning. There were some spices on the fish. NULL.00 I think.
I ordered carrot cake and coffee for dessert. The serving was small, and was unimpressive. The coffee was weak.
We had dined here years ago, and I thought that it was OK. This visit was a disappointment. Don’t plan to return.
Charming little old school bar/restaurant that time overlooked. Clean, not old and dirty. Stopped in to eat while with my daughter, who goes to Mercy College. Will 100% eat there again. Inexpensive, good quality, and friendly service.
You know for some reason I thought I had already reviewed this place right after my first visit. But that was a year and some change ago. Guess not.
This place is a bar. Bar food, bar ambiance, bar stool. Bar service, bar everything, everyone, everybody… but
Customer service…top tier. God like
Bathroom…. Clean
ANDREW the waiter and service/bar dude: HE WAS AWESOME
THE FOOD. Even though I ordered a breaded chicken cutlet wrap and about 60% of it tastes like vegetables nothing wrong with it but I did expect a BIT MORE MORE MEAT. I LIKE BALANCED MEALS YA KNOW…Overall the food was made with good quality customer service ! Especially with my extra condiments because y’all know I’m a sauce guy aka extra chipotle mayo on everything. THE FRIES WERE CRIPS (these are the new fries they debuted whenever they did) because last I remember they had shoestring and waffles… BUT THESE GOD TIER THICK CRINKLE CUT FRIES…. omg…….
I also ordered a side salad to balance everything out with extra red onions (red onions on anything is BETTER) remember that.
Overall my first time last year was good. My second or third time today was good and comforting..
Please support the locals ! And drink responsibly (I don’t drink)
I had a pleasant experience at Doubleday’s. We had to sit on the street, I guess the beer garden in the back wasn’t open yet? We did arrive pretty early on a Sunday.
The staff was friendly with is a plus. It was a little odd that only after we paid, we were brought condiments and hand sanitizer for the table. Again, I guess we arrived early.
Me and my friend really just stopped in for a beer, and due to Covid we had to order a food item. We got the mozzarella sticks, which were very average.
In summary, good service, but the only food item I got was mediocre. I did not see the beer garden.
EDIT: I changed my rating to 5 stars. The beer garden is really nice! Upon visiting a second time, the staff was not just friendly, but exceptional. I had the nachos and they were pretty good for bar nachos. I definitely had a 5 ⭐️ experience at Doubleday’s. Just be sure to visit the beer garden or outdoor bar when you go!
