Located on Coon Hollow Rd, the Derby & Ansonia Dog Park is a pet-friendly haven for local dog owners looking for a fenced, social space for their furry friends. The park features separate sections for small and large dogs, making it easier and safer for pets of all sizes to play off-leash. Visitors frequently highlight the friendly atmosphere and convenient location, right in the heart of Derby, CT, making it an ideal stop before or after grabbing a bite at nearby eateries.
What sets this dog park apart is its agility equipment—ramps, tunnels, and obstacles that add an extra level of fun and challenge for active dogs. While some visitors note that the park can get muddy after rain and that maintenance like restocking poop bags can be inconsistent, the overall experience is positive. A water spigot or several water bowls are typically available, ensuring your pup stays hydrated, and there’s plenty of open space for dogs to run, play, and socialize. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this dog park is a welcoming space for you and your pet.
I take my dogs there sometimes bc it’s really close to my home. Compared to others, it’s very unkept and very basic. It tends to get quite muddy after it rains or snows. So far I haven’t seen any water spigots but maybe I’ve overlooked them. There are a few dog bowls and a couple gallon jugs with some water in a few baskets. They have a small dog area which is a decent size and a large dog area that’s a pretty big.
Awesome dog park to go to, it has a small and big side. It’s in a quiet and peaceful area. My dog buddy absolutely loves the obstacle course.
Its a realy nice dog park but there is no maintenance for it. There are ditches in the ground that my own personal dog tripped in and hurt herself and the poop bag dispenser is empty and it seems like no one cleans up after their own dog so you have to watch your step.
Smaller dog park but nice to have in the city for sure. Clean and easily accessible. Stopped here before going to Roseland apizza.
We love going here. Great little park, usually several fun friendly dogs, love the agility ramps, tunnel, etc. Great that there’s a water spigot so you can get your pup fresh water.
